Where Memory comes from
Ravensburger published Memory in 1959, based on a design by William Hurter, a Swiss who had invented the game for his own family. The principle is far older and appears in Japanese shell-matching games of the 12th century. In English it is called Concentration or Pairs – and it is one of the few games in which children regularly beat adults.
